A hotel that really pays attention to the details, with superb staff who were very considerate, and helped hold the room keys for us when we were entering and exiting. The little touches like a free bag, tabi socks and nail clippers were a lovely addition and souvenir. Our room was spacious, with extremely high ceilings, Western beds, and a tatami area with kotatsu at the end. The room furnishings and bathroom facilities were on the older side, but was clean and impeccably maintained - the humidifier was very appreciated given how cold and dry it was. The ryokan complex also boasted ping pong rooms, libraries etc. that would be great for larger group activities. You can book three of their cosy onsen for a private session, which was great for couples, including Yawaragi-no-yu, which had a beautiful view of the mountains in the distance and is my top recommendation. The location was quiet but only a 5-10min walk from Lake Kinrinko, so highly recommend going there in the morning to see the mist on the lake, and and the main street in Yufuin, and had plenty of parking space. This ryokan is on the pricier side but worth the premium and experience to stay there.

They said they upgraded our room, which made us quite happy. We went to the public hot spring, and I remember it was quite comfortable and nobody was using it. For dinner, we had a private dining room where we enjoyed exquisitely crafted and delicious food. At 10:30 p.m., we went to soak in a private hot spring which ws previoulsy reserved for free. We went to the one they claimed was the most popular, located on the left side. Upon entering, there was an indoor bath and an outdoor bath. The outdoor pool overlooked some trees and had a Japanese garden feel to it. It was truly very comfortable.

All the staff, and we literally refer to 100% of the staff we encountered - were of highest politeness and friendliness assisting us from checking in to checking out. Also awesome mangaka talent was discovered ;) ! All staff seems to enjoy working in the property as well this it was a truly relaxing and positive experience throughout. My family members who were first time visiting japan felt so much like home In your ryokan and even wished we had stayed for more nights! Really nice to have crossed path with the crew and hopefully we can stay in this great ryokan in near future!

staff were great and very responsive if you ask anything on booking.com. there are public and private onsen you can book in advance, private onsen is really great! lots of guides and great info given during check in as well so we were able to use the facilities. dinner was nice too but we opt out for breakfast as there are plenty of food choices in yufuin in the morning. location slightly far from JR station but walkable. its just around the famous floral village and kinrin lake.

Sooping

Like many other guests, we enjoyed the helpful attentive staff, excellent breakfast and dinner, and private onsen. We are in our 70s and walk slow. The hotel is in a basin and close to Lake Kinrin. It is also close to touristy things like the classic motor.museum and floral village but not so close that you have to see them. A very pleasant stay and we intend to go back next time in Yufuin.
